The Mogs were as always in buoyant mood at the self proclaimed 'Venue of Legends' - a title that their league form was doing everything to support. Despite three quick wickets the Priory got off to a flyer, with the freshly coiffeured Mills hammering 112 from just 113 balls, and despite the best efforts of the Mog's bowlers they rocketted to 210 off 40 overs of unremitting slap-batterage.
In reply, the fearsome sight of the 6ft 4in 'Otis' Gibson sprinting 50 yards from the Blue Anchor inn shook the openers, although it was perhaps the shock arrival of the sub-medium pace delivery that induced the first confused run-out by Furner. However in combination with the pacier Briggs T (leant to our opponents for the afternoon) Gibson managed to get enough deliveries to hover around the medium mark to reduce the Mogs to 30 for 6 within 10 overs, effectively ending the competitive stage of the match.
However as always the Mog pride saw a later order recovery, and finishing on 114 all out the team can at least have contented themselves in achieving three figures in comfortably their worst performance of the season.
As ever, the hospitality of our hosts was tremendous, including a tea that challenged for the season award.
