The Mogs played their annual fixture vs Merstham for the Matthew Lewis Memorial Shield on a beautiful sunny day. The Mogs batted first driving and clipping some lovely shots through gaps in and amongst a spicy pitch and competitive bowling. Furner carried his bat for a well-earned 78 throughout the innings. Lee contributed with some tremendous straight drives, but the unquestionable highlight was a brutal batting display from Oscar Jago-Lewis, scoring 102 off 55 balls with 6 sixes and 12 fours before retiring. It was truly something to behold and something the entire Lewis family can be proud of as well as the Mogs on such a fitting day for it.

The Mogs took to the field buoyed by a fantastic score of 266-8 offering bowling run ups no more than 5 paces to go at a tremendous over rate and tie up the Merstham batsmen. Bowling was shared around with Tharp and Bukhari with a fantastic new ball spell of swing and guile. The spinners came to do their thing too. Fairclough and Bhat with runs to play with bowled some magic balls peppering their spell with some clever fields. Cooper finished the game with a couple of quick ones and the Mogs were back in the bar to celebrate the re-claiming of the shield for the first time in a while.

A big thanks to all supporters, Keith Briggs for umpiring and Merstham for a good game played, as always, in fabulous spirit.
