All-Stars 240-3 (40 overs)
Mogs 190-7 (39 overs)
Winning the toss, the All-Stars batted first and Gibbo and Hylts were soon smashing the bowling to all parts. Keith Briggs bowled a tight opening spell for the Mogs, but there was a lack of penetration at the other end, as the pair put on over 150 for the first wicket, til Hylts was out bowled by spinner Lewis for a well played 67. 20 overs had only passed at this time, and an absolute rout was expected. Gibbo spooned a catch back to Andy Tharp, for a season-high 90 (take note Robin Underwood!) But the introduction of Millsy and Robbo soon slowed down the scoring, as they only managed to score 60 between them in the last 12 overs. Millsy ended up on 40* and Robbo 24*. The All-Stars finished up on 240-3 at tea, off only 40 overs. Congratulations to Millsy who went passed 1000 runs for the season in all forms of cricket (including changing room cricket).
Gaffer took his troops out after tea, and was soon wishing he wasn't first slip as the first ball from Stuey Webb-Martin boomeranged, and Calvin (who was keeping) left it - "There's a fielder there" - as it thudded into Galer's hands. Next ball, carbon copy, but this time with a squeal of anguish! Gaffer then had a chat with Calvin, through his years of experience at keeping wicket, and next ball, similar to the previous two, Calvin took one step across and took it comfortably! Easy game really!
Harmer Jnr made in-roads next over, with Hylts taking the catch at mid off. Dave Owen, guesting for the Mogs, went onto score a good 47 before mistiming a slog of The Gaffer, and Tobes caught him at square leg. Geoff Chay smashed a few lusty blows for the Mogs, including a mammoth 6 off Gaffer, which ended up going down Park Lane - until Gaffer took a good return catch. The Gaffer and Robbo bowled very well in tandem, but probably too tightly for the Mogs, as the scoring rate never got up. Tobes was brought on to bowl some filth, but the Mogs were never up with the rate. Jason Roy was introduced into the attack, and first ball was smashed to the boundary. A couple of words of dismay from a young superstar, followed by a "Get back to your end, sonny Jim" from the Mogs batsman - resulted in a wild slog next ball and Tobes taking the skier. Superstar Young Llama 1 Mogs batsman 0! Jason then induced a tickle off Tharpy's brother, to which Calvin took the catch.
The All-Stars didn't have enough overs at the Mogs tail, as they ended up on 190-7 after 39 overs. In hindsight, we could have declared at 200, and given ourselves more overs. But on a flat wicket, with little assistance to the bowlers, it would have been touch and go.
