The Mogs were denied victory by Mother Nature after the drizzle got steadily heavier over the tea interval and our hosts keen to protect their square at the start of the season.
We had bowled maori Oxshott out for 103 with an excellent display of disciplined bowling & assured fielding. We chose to bowl first in the hope of bowling 'em out and knocking 'em off and openers Joseph "Fine Furniture" Lewis and Chris "Barry" Mankelow reduced Oxshott to 35-2 from their opening 16 overs. A sleep-deprived Lee and ever parsimonious Cooper also snared a wicket each before Ben "Little Major" Fairclough (4-8) and Tharpy (1-2) destroyed their middle and lower order with both Brown & Furner taking the pick of the catches. Freeland wore the Brut home after spilling a relative sitter at cover, though our fielding was generally excellent.
A shame that it was called off as it is a most friendly game against congenial hosts. Our thanks to Steve "Brown Trousers" Hodge and John "Ping Pong" Moulton for officiating in the inclement weather.
