It was another beautiful sunny Sunday when the mogs pitched up at Coldharbour with a strong eleven and with no nonsense they tucked into the fosters awaiting the outcome of the skippers coin toss call. Matt won the toss and without hesitation elected to bat first and enjoy amber nectar on offer.
Very excitingly Jamie & Fraser opened for the first time together in mogs history, and poor old Pete wished he hadn't put his pads on as it was a hot day to overdress unnecessarily!
Coldharbour ran out with great gusto looking forward to taking a couple quick wickets before the drinks break. Jamie & Fraser had absolutely no intention of getting out before the other which made for a great contest of, "if you can I can go further or with more style."
It was a pure joy to watch two proper batsman show how to time, place and execute each shot from the manual of how to score runs without hoicking.
Coldharbour didn't agree funny enough and before they knew it mogs had reached 200 without loss & their bar had been badly dented.
Jamie passed his hundred with ease, shortly followed by Fraser (for his inaugural Mog 100). Jamie feeling charitable got out and gave Pete a go. At the end of 34 overs Matt called them in and Mogs went to tea 275-1.
One point of order was raised from the elder statesman in the team Mr Furner that he had a better strike rate than our two slow starters!
Tom Hornsey & Joseph Lewis opened up and before we knew it Coldharbour were staring down the barrel at 30-3. Eight bowlers were used all taking a wicket, we had stumpings, 5 assorted catches, close run outs, lost balls and stray dogs until Coldharbour were eventually all out for 235 from 39 over's. Honeyfield racked up an impressive 4 maidens in his spell which is no mean feat. Matt once again showed his peacekeeper credentials with their happy go lucky number 11(who was plumb the first time but never mind that's water under the bridge see you next year)!
Well done mogs
